BAPTISM
"Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." (CCC no. 1213)
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit..." (Matthew 28:19)
The newly baptized person becomes a "new creation," a "child of God," and a member of the Body of Christ, the Church.
The parish family of Immaculate Conception Church welcomes these children with great joy.
Requirements for Sacrament of Baptism:
-
At least one parent must be a practicing Catholic.
-
Must be registered parishioner of ICC.
-
Parents mush attend Baptism preparation program before their child's baptism.
Godparents
A Godparent is a person who will assist in bringing the newly baptized up in the Catholic faith. A Godparent must be a practicing Catholic, at least 16 years old who has celebrated the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation.
To ensure that parents are properly prepared to celebrate their child's Baptism and to provide some practical information about the Baptism ceremony itself, we also ask that they attend a preparation session. The session is held at noon and lasts about 45 minutes.
