Baptism

"Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." (CCC no. 1213) 

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit..." (Matthew 28:19)

Requirements for 
Infant Baptism

  • At least one parent must be a practicing Catholic.

  • Must be registered parishioner of ICC.

  • Parents mush attend Baptism preparation program before their child's baptism.

Requirements for
Godparents

A godparent for Baptism must be:

  • a practicing Catholic who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

  • at least 16 years old (or the age set by the diocese), leads a life of faith in keeping with this role, and is free from any canonical penalties or impediments, such as being in a state of mortal sin.

  • They cannot be the child's parents

Non-Catholic Witnesses

Non-Catholics are not eligible to be godparents.

A baptized non-Catholic Christian may serve as a witness alongside a Catholic godparent with parental consent.
