Confirmation
Confirmation completes Christian initiation: it more perfectly binds the baptized to the Church and enriches them with a special strength of the Holy Spirit, making them true witnesses of Christ.
Because Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist form a unity, the faithful are obliged to receive Confirmation at the appropriate time, and it is closely connected to Baptism (often through the renewal of baptismal promises).
"Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace." (CCC no. 1285)
Requirements for Confirmation
Two years of preparation is expected prior to receiving this sacrament, starting in the 8th grade. Confirmation preparation is a time of study and discernment for the candidate.
